Brief History
This 9th century Eastern European vessel is one of the closest relatives of Viking longships. It sailed in open seas and rivers and its shape and size depended on the region and the purpose of the vessel, however the general construction method was same. First, the keel and the stems were made, afterwards the hull was planked and only then the timbers were installed. All boards were cut mainly using different axes strictly following the direction of wood fibres.
